It was yet another fun night at Adams Motorsports Park for Drift Night! It seemed like everyone had regrouped from last week and seemed really in the groove! Here is Lanni rocking the “Street Racing IS NOT Motorsports” Shirt!
I looked at the calendar on my cell phone, it was Thursday, you know what that means… Adams Motorsports Park drift night! I happily punched the time clock at work and rushed to the track. I got there in time to walk around and check things out. I found the car of none other than DJ Pow (pow pow).
What a day at Toyota Speedway! I arrived at the gates at 10 A.M. and I nervously reached for the door handle, remembering the scorching heat from last time. I reluctantly pulled the lever and to my surprise, it was really nice outside! It warmed up a little as the day went on, but nothing unbearable. When I walked in, the car show was already in full swing. My first stop was to check out the car Mad Mac was raffling off.
The 3rd round of the Adams Motorsports Park Drift Series was incredible! We really lucked out with the weather! There had been blistering temperatures all week and even on the day of the event. Luckily, by 6 PM, it had cooled down to a manageable level. All of the heat was on the track! You could definitely tell all the drivers were hungry for the win tonight, laying down some seriously impressive drifts. There were not many “running out of talent” tonight! A few more drivers showed up that I recognized from the last Sideways Sunday. About half way through their first practice, I saw some familiar faces showing up. Mauricio Ornelas, Enrique Mendoza and even “the batmobile” of Justin Moore hit the track. I started to get more excited since the competition had just gone up a notch.
Then, with a thunderous roar, Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis’s car comes to life! Continue reading →
August 11, 2011, was the second part of the Drift Series held at Adams Motorsports Park. The series consists of 4 race points, 1 drop (low score or missed event), and $500 cash for Series Champion + Prizes. The points structure is based on the Formula D style. The entry fee is $75 and the other sessions that take part earlier in the day are still $20 each. Each event has prizes for the top 3 drifters: 3rd and 2nd place get prizes/products and 1st place wins $300 plus prizes.
On July 31, 2011, was another Sideways Sundays event that took place at Irwindale Speedway, CA, from 10 AM to 4 PM. It was a drifting event hosted by Adams Motorsports that was geared more for the grassroots crowd/drifters. Some of the festivities consisted of a car show, live DJs, vendors, models, contests, prizes, and of course the non-stop drifting action.
Check out the video below for the highlights of this great Sunday morning:
